As we seek His light, we strive to form young minds that are rooted in faith, guided by values, and inspired to make a positive difference in the world.

At St. Basil's School, we are committed to providing a holistic education that nurtures the intellectual, physical, emotional, moral, and spiritual growth of every child. Through excellence in education, character formation, and a spirit of service, we encourage our students to overcome ignorance with knowledge, hatred with compassion, and challenges with courage and integrity.

What Guides Us

Vision & Mission

Our Vision

We envision a nation where children are nurtured and empowered to become catalysts for positive change, embodying the values of love and justice, and actively contributing to the betterment of society. Our vision is to groom and embolden children as agents of love, justice and peace, guided by the divine light of God. We aim to foster moral integrity and social responsibility, preparing our students to dispel darkness in all its forms — ignorance, inequality, hatred and discrimination — through the pursuit of knowledge and the service of humanity.

Our Mission

Guided by our motto "Lead Kindly Light," our mission seeks to illuminate the journey of each student, nurturing their growth across the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual spectra. We endeavour to inspire a profound commitment to service, shaping them into responsible, compassionate and well-rounded individuals, devoted to both the Divine and the Nation. Through the relentless pursuit of academic excellence and the cultivation of ethical values, we guide them toward a life of selfless service — leading with kindness, compassion and a sense of social responsibility in every facet of their lives.

Our Founder

Very Rev. Fr. Basilius C.S.T.

Our congregation was founded by Very Rev. Fr. Basilius C.S.T. (Thomas Panat) on 19th March 1931, born of a deep devotion to St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus — the Little Flower.

On translating the autobiography of the Little Flower, Fr. Basilius became enamoured of her life and spirit, which — in his own words — "erupted within me and overflowed from the interior of my heart." Inspired by this, he gathered dedicated young men into the "Cherupushpa Sahodara Sangham" at Mookkannur, with the blessing of Archbishop Mar Augustine Kandathil.

His vision was shaped by his years managing the Sacred Heart Orphanage, his closeness to the poor of his village, the underdevelopment around him, and even his contact with Mahatma Gandhi. These experiences moved him to answer Christ's call to "go and do likewise" — through education, care and selfless service.

  • Founded the Congregation on 19 March 1931, devoted to the Little Flower.
  • Recognised as a Clerical Institute on 27 December 1945.
  • A life given to the young, the poor and the service of humanity.

About the Society

The CST Fathers — a heritage of education and service.

St. Basil's School is run under the aegis of Little Flower Congregation (CST Fathers), through the Little Flower Province, Gorakhpur, carries out its mission through a network of ashrams, formation houses, educational institutions, social service centers, and pastoral ministries. Rooted in the missionary spirit of the Congregation and inspired by the Little Way of St. Thérèse, the Province serves the Church and society in diverse settings across Kerala, Gorakhpur, Bihar, and Nepal.

Across the country, CST institutions are known for academic excellence, discipline and the formation of character. At Nipaniya, this same spirit inspires our commitment to nurture children — especially in rural and semi-urban communities — into confident, compassionate and capable citizens.

  • Faith & values at the heart of education.
  • Service to society, especially the young and underserved.
  • Excellence & discipline in learning and life.
Our Patron Saint

St. Thérèse of Lisieux — the Little Flower

Our congregation and school draw inspiration from St. Thérèse of Lisieux, lovingly known as "The Little Flower of Jesus." She is the patroness whose gentle spirit shapes the values we cherish.

St. Thérèse taught the world her "Little Way" — the path of doing small things with great love. She believed that greatness is not found in grand deeds, but in everyday acts of kindness, humility and trust in God. This simple, luminous spirituality perfectly echoes our motto, "Lead, Kindly Light."

At St. Basil's, we encourage our children to follow her Little Way — to be kind in small ways, honest in little things, and faithful in daily duties. In doing so, each child learns that even the smallest act of love can spread great light in the world.

  • The Little Way — doing small things with great love.
  • Simplicity & humility as the path to greatness.
  • Trust & kindness that light up everyday life.
